Internal Review of NIH research grant applications
The COM Office of Research Affairs (ORA) will coordinate an internal review for National Institutes of Health R-, K-, P- or U-series grant applications (new, renewal, and resubmission). Reviewers will be COM faculty with experience as NIH reviewers.
NEW and COMPETING APPLICATIONS:
- Impact Analysis – COM PIs may submit NIH-formatted specific aims, significance and innovation sections for impact analysis. The PI will receive feedback (strengths/weaknesses) on these sections within a few days.
- Full Review – The PI may submit the complete proposal for full review. Full applications submitted at least one month prior to the submission deadline will receive a written review within two weeks.
- For COM faculty who are preparing an A1, we recommend to contact us as soon as possible, subsequent to receiving summary statements. We will assist in pairing a reviewer to work with the PI to interpret the reviews and design a detailed plan for strengthening the application.
Note: Our goal is to help our faculty make a good grant application outstanding. A triage process will be necessary to determine whether the proposals are ready for full review. If determined not ready for full review, we will provide brief comments and suggestions to the PI for rewrite.
To initiate the process, please submit your document(s) to Karen Pastos (firstname.lastname@example.org)
