UF Research Opportunity Seed Fund

2010 Research Opportunity Seed Fund College of Medicine Call for proposals

The UF Office of Research has announced the 2010 Research Opportunity Seed Fund competition.  This program provides funding for new, faculty-initiated research programs that are multi-/interdisciplinary and that have the expectation and a reasonable plan for becoming externally-funded programs at the University of Florida. Projects should be innovative, support institutional mission goals, have strong potential for garnering future funding from external sources, or have outstanding commercial potential. Opportunity Fund awards are not intended to support on-going projects — they should support new projects (not a supplement to current research) and/or new collaborative partnerships.  To be competitive, proposals must be multi-/interdisciplinary and must involve faculty from at least two departments/units/colleges. Single-investigator proposals are not eligible.

The College of Medicine Office of Research Affairs will conduct an internal review through a two step process:

Step 1.  Letters of Intent due November 30th, 2009

  • One page technical summary inclusive of a description of the multidisciplinary nature of project
  • Current NIH biosketch for each investigator
  • Submit as single pdf file to Karen Pastos (pastos@ufl.edu) no later than Monday, 11/30/09

Step 2.  Invited full proposals due January 4th, 2010

  • Invited applicants should refer to guidelines below for full proposal
  • Must also include a letter of support from each department chair
  • Submit as single pdf file to Karen Pastos (pastos@ufl.edu) no later than Monday, 1/4/2010
